Inside Cover: Azole-Based Cyclic Peptides from the Sea Squirt Lissoclinum Patella: Old Scaffolds, New Avenues (ChemBioChem 13/2010)
Written by Wael E. Houssen on September 3, 2010 – 5:00 am -The inside cover picture shows, top right, a photograph of the sea squirt Lissoclinum patella, the source of a large array of bioactive azole-based cyclic peptides. Its photosynthetic symbiont, Prochloron sp. is the actual producer of these compounds through the ribosomal pathway. The biosynthetic machinery could be engineered to produce unnatural related compounds. For more information see the Minireview by M. Jaspars and W. E. Houssen on p. 1803 ff.
